Opinons please on sashing and borders
1 Attachment(s)
A few years ago I put together the blocks for Sylvia's Bridal Sampler quilt. The blocks are attached in long rows using white sashing between the blocks. Now I'm wondering if a color sashing should be used instead. Do the blocks look too washed out with the white background and sashing? What do you suggest for sashing & border color? I really would like to get this top done (notice I didn't say quilt, haha) but don't quite know what to do at this point. Thank you for your suggestions.

i would use a colored sashing

I do like the white sashing...it lets these beautiful and colorful blocks stand out and be the stars they are. (WOW !!!)
Maybe a colored outer border afterwards if you wanted. |
I also like the white sashing - let's all of your hard work shine
|
I like it the way it is - with no sashing. Otherwise, it looks like it might get too big.
Gorgeous blocks. Looks like it took you a long time to complete. |
Your blocks are lovely and fine on the white background. I would use a light or white inner border and then a color or colors. Beautiful!!

If you google Sylvia's Bridal Sampler Quilt then click images and look at all the quilts that are shown, you will see all sorts of possibilities for slashing and borders. I think it is helpful to see the finished quilt, then it is easier to decide which you prefer. Beautiful blocks. I like the colors you have chosen. I am sure your finished quilt will be a work of art.

Here's a link to the google search result for different images of the quilt, with and without sashings:

I like it the way you have it in the picture. There is enough white to separate the pieced blocks.

I wouldn't use a color. it's colorful enough and you don't want to take away from the block designs.
