Ott Light Odor

Bought an Ott Light recently and after having it on 10 minutes or so, it has a strong odor. Doesn't seem to be coming from the light itself but the bulb after warmed up. Hard to explain, but maybe like a warm electrical smell. Anyone else experience something similiar? If so, did it disappear as time went on? Thanks for any input.

That's not normal, I think you should return it. There may be a wire loose or a short causing that odor.

I have 3 Ott lites and never had that happen. I would definitely return it.

I agree, I have two, one I'm happy with the other I don't like but neither of them give off an odor especially an electrical odor. I think you should take it back. I'd hate for it to explode and hurt you or your fabric but most of all you.

I agree with Lori S; it's not normal. Take it back. You don't want a fire!

Anything plastic when heated will outgass. It will outgass for a while then be OK. The newer the product the more it will outgass. This is formaldhyde outgassing.

I don't think formaldehyde will put out an electrical odor. One of mine has mildewy smell. It has done that since I got it. Very annoying.

Please take it back before your hurt. I have 2 and one since 2001 never have had an order.

I would definitely return it before something happens. My coffee maker had a strong odor yesterday and I thought "Oh DH must of slopped coffee on the heating plate". Can you guess what happened next?...I'm drinking instant coffee this morning. So take it back before something happens.
