Ottoman. Top

I will be making a fitted cover for an ottoman that will not be attached so it can be washed when needed. It will look like a quilt top because it will be made from various sizes of squares and rectangles of several fabrics. I will not be quilting it. My question is do I sew with a 1/4 inch seam or something larger? Any suggestion are very appreciated. This is a project I am doing for and with my college granddaughter. She is doing the sewing with my guidance.

I would use the standard seam allowance for clothing. It has been so long, I forgot, Is it 5/8" seam allowance???

I made a wall hanging and decided to use it for the top of my ottoman. Works great.

If you are not quilting it, I would use a larger seam allowance maybe 3/8 . It will get a fair amount of rough use with either feet or sitting on it and a 1/4 inch allowance may fray out.

Use a 1/2" seam. Most home dec projects are sewn with a 1/2" seam

Thank you for your suggestions. I will use 1/2 seam allowance.

I would use 1/2" or 5/8" seam since it won't be quilted to help hold the pieces together. Also it will likely have wear and need washing more so think you need stronger seams.
