I use to use cookie tins like that as my parents bought tons of those big tins with butter cookies. Had to change to something else because I got in trouble with my DGC because there was suppose to be cookies in there & not grammie's junk.

That is too cute!!! Gotta love the grands. Did you fill them with cookies? ;)

I keep them fixed on a regular bases. They all love Grammie's chocolate chip.

Yep, my machine does that too. You'd think with an expensive machine it wouldn't but it does. (Janome 6600) I'm going to go buy the single throat plate and see if that helps. I'm assured it will. Can you get a single throat plate for your machine?

To avoid your machine from eatting the small pieces of fabric, "crumbs", I ues a foundation, either paper, or muslin. I have been saving the pieces to make a mosaic quilt. I have a picture of my DH that I just love, and will be making a quilt with te crumbs, and his picture printed onto graph paper.

I think I would loose my mind just thinking about all those little pieces... Good luck. :shock:

I use the "buckets" that cat litter comes in (From Sam's)..I have them labeled with the square scrape sizes, like 3", 4" etc.....and I have them on an old shelf that I got years ago at K Mart..I know when the bucket gets full, its time to use those scraps to make a scrappy quilt...

Me too! Good grief I can't even imagine counting them all much less putting them altogether. It takes a special person to be able to do this.

I do something similar, though since I don't drink coffee I don't have any of those cool cans you ladies are talking about. Is the can see-through? I've found that unless I'm separating by color and value, I need to be able to see what I'm looking at without having to take them out and sort through them all the time. I don't want to handle my scraps too much or the edges start to fray and then they are no longer square.

Evidently I need to find someone who drinks this brand of coffee. :lol:

I am collecting 1-inch sqaures (unfinished) to do a mosaic quilt with someday. You go girl! :thumbup:

This sounds intriguing. Any plans for it yet? How big do you think it will be? Working that small is needless to say, challenging--from someone who knows!

I keep my 1 1/2" squares in one of the huge popcorn tins that Staples has around the holidays.

Good idea! I also like the one about the large bins that the kitty litter comes in! I guess I have to get a kitty now, lol!
