Owl panel change up
2 Attachment(s)
Here is a panel that dclutter sent me from California. I plan on changing it up a bit as my daughter is having a boy in December. I plan on changing the wings on the owls and perhaps some of the flowers and little bird wings. http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=494232&stc=1
Let me know what you think, every one here is great with ideas. http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=494233&stc=1 |
I like the colors! I think it is going to look great! Are you going to applique over the owl wings?
|
You could definitely make those changes to make the panel more gender appropriate. I like the solids you have picked out to go with it. You could applique a leaf over the pink flowers and applique a blue or brown wing and it would be perfect for a baby boy.

Thanks for the replies, yes Deb I plan on appliqueing over the wings and flowers. I am thinking 1.5 inch green border, .5 inch in the blue and then around 3 inch of the orange. Have to measure so it comes out a crib size. Le me know if you agree with the sizes for the borders.

Cute panel. Great ideas.

Great ideas! Congratulations on your upcoming grandson!

I like your border fabrics you plan to add, but don't understand the removal of flowers. Don't boys like flowers? Can't boys love flowers? I think it's time to get over the gender split thing. Of course I wouldn't make a Barbie Doll quilt for a boy, but nature is loved by all.
Have you heard the saying: "Real men wear pink"? Our grandson wanted to wear pink at his sister's bat-mitzva. He wore a pink tie! He was 12 years old. Good luck on your quilt. |
I think I would use the aqua blue of his feet for the wings and change the flowers to the blue or orange of the border fabric, just to make everything more cohesive.

Whatever works for you is fine, as it's your quilt, and you have the final say on how it is done.
