Painting fabric
I'm looking for white on white Star of David fabric, and it's next to impossible to find. I want to make the Stars & Strings quilt shown in the Fall/winter issue of Quilt Sampler magazine, (pg 35), and I think a monochromatic background fabric with the Star of David printed on it in the same color would add to it while not detracting from the stringy stars.
However, this is apparently asking for the moon! then I got the bright idea of painting my own fabric, and wondered if anyone here has tried that, and if you could share tips/tricks to the trade? Something simple as I've never done this before, but I'll need about 4-1/2 yards of the background fabric. I'm thinking of a random allover multidirecdtional print style , similar to the fabrics you can find on the net, just monochromatic in color scheme. What brand of fabric paint is washable yet permanent? |
I have seen Star of David fab. with blue on white at Jo-Ann. Their is a paint that says it has soft (in the name) I would use that. 4 1/2 yards I would think of making a stamp to use.

100% agree with mary quilting - you can buy or make a stamp -- and they make stamp inks that are specifically for fabric...OR....you could do it by stenciling -- using fabric paint cuz that doesn't get stiff... Good luck with your project !!! Oh...PS...have you googled "star of david fabric" ???
