first I have to say you are all a very bad influence on me. I really don't need a featherweight, not sure what I'll do with it, but I just couldn't resist with a ll of the neat photos and stories I hear about these machines :-) now I'm in the market for a hand crank singer! what's gotten in to me!!

"little miss thing" will be arriving in a week or so, and I am thinking about giving her a make over, I've seen an avatar of a red featherweight.

if you have one, have you ever considered having it painted other than black (i'd have it professionally done)?

Maybe, if the finish were really bad. If I did, it would be a "red" one!!

I have never heard of one being painted, but they must.
I have seen a gold one, purple, hot pink, & black with flames.

Can't say that I ever considered having mine painted, but I did see some beautiful Featherweights that had been professionally painted at a quilt show last year. There was a red one, a light turquoise one, a yellow one, and possibly others. They were beautiful. I would have brought one home in a minute if I could have afforded it.

If Billy weren't so ill, he would do an awesome job on it! He could maybe recommend someone. His QB name is LostN51.

For those who don't want to look, he charges $769 for a restored and painted 221 or $569 to restore and paint the machine that you provide. Awesome pictures.
