How do you cut the fabric to make the palm tree block found at http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/home/pa...uilt-block.htm I need the finished block to be 6". Also, are there any sewing hints or short cuts?

Well I found it. I think you need to piece it togther. Doesnt give you measurements. but does give you a,b,c,etc, and tells you to sew a to b, etc. Try pieceing it. Hope this helps you out. Im pretty new to quilting.

I tried carefully cutting all the pieces out with 1/4" extra for seam allowance. It doesn't work. I spent about 5 hours on it and cut several, but it just doesn't work. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. I need detailed cutting and sewing instructions.
