Panel+borders=PL charity quilt

I was gifted several kid theme panels so plan to sew up for Project Linus. ? is when you sew with panels do you have a fav block to use for borders? Tired of the traditional round and round borders. Panels are all 24*42 ish size.

For some ideas, Jordan Fabrics has some nice YouTube videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQvcr4ZZ2D0 on some panel borders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uKPPEbpbyQ

I do a lot of Project Linus Quilts also. Sometimes just adding 4 patch blocks offset and stacked in the corners will add interest to the traditional rounds for borders. Take a look at Baby Quilts on Pinterest and see if you find anything you might want to try.

I like the look of offset borders for panels, where one side has just one border and the other sides have 2 or more, so the panel is off center. If you google “offset borders for panel quilts” and the look at “images” you’ll see some ideas.

I love working with panels. I study my panel to visualize what would look best with a particular panel. Decide how much larger you want for your finished size then go from there. Good luck!

ps. My albums have panel quilts in them but usually large quilts. In my albums I see a blank square where a small picture should be. However, if you click on the blank, a picture will show up. Since the Quilting Board upgrade some of my albums look blank but are not if you click the blank.

My mother made each grandchild a quilt using calendar kitchen towels with borders, strips, pinwheels, whatever her mood. She indicated the date as a day and date reminder.
