i just bought a panel of a deer and a cottage which apparently has been discontinued. I got a brown fabric that matches the panel. Any suggestions as to how to make this for my husband? The panel is 22x42. I want to make it between 50-60 wide and about 72 inches long. I need some ideas besides the one border that I already got, looks alot like the one in the picture that I am attaching. The other materials in the picture are discontinued too. I dont want to do alot of borders, maybe two borders and something neat but simple. I need to get this done in time for Christmas. Thanks!!!

How about getting some current deer fabric and fussy the squares. Then do a disappearing 9 patch with the panel in the center.

This is the pattern that the fabric company is showing, though this is not big enough as is:

Also, aspenglowquilting.com still appears to have all the coordinating fabrics available, if you need additional fabric.

I love deer and your panel. I wish I had seen one like it. You might put some star blocks at top and bottom to add extra length or sampler blocks and then use a couple of borders to make it wide and long enough. It will be lovely whatever you decide.

i think it would be great surrounded by log-cabin blocks maybe 12" blocks

Here is one I made for my dad with a panel- no pattern I just decided as I went along. I did embroidery in the blocks but you could fussy cut deer or trees.

You could put a strip of log cabin squares on either side and a border on all four. Or choose another type of square to put around all four sides and a border. ?? So many possibilities :)

I would love to have the panel to make a quilt for my husband. He is the biggest hunter you could ever imagine and he would love this made into a quilt. Good luck I'm sure it will be beautiful when your finished.

I love your panel!

A border of log cabin blocks would set it off nicely. You could make them scrappy in blues and browns and that would make them blend with the panel.
