panels for girls 7 up
 

I need Help! Am trying to make a quilt with a panel center for our granddaughter age 7. We want it so she can use and like it for a very long time.

Lots of panels on all of the pages, but are all for younger girls or babies.

If anyone can give some good ideas, I would appreciate.

If you don't want to make one that reflects her 7 year old interests, then this one might work if you are as doting a grandma as my sister:

I like TT Radiance on the second page of the link above. A huge flower, but it has some great colors to pick up. I'm using a geranium pink with mine. The coordinates are good, too - a bright stripe and a scatter print that matches the background, among others.

I'm with Irishrose2, if you want her to like it longer make it a flower or beautiful colors. Don't make her a princess or child's quilt. She will love it because you made it.

I Agree with this idea. I made my grandson a quilt when he was 7 years old. He watched me make it. A lot of not wonderful things have gone on in his life and through it all he has had the quilt. He's turning 18 soon, and the quilt is showing signs of wear, but he still uses it. I do have a new one planned for him.

So make one with a more grown up theme, but with her interests in mind. If she lives close to you, take her out looking for panels or look on the internet with her. It's the memories of you and her that will really make her treasure the quilt.

I may be a minority here - but if she is a Disney fan, then go with Disney. My DD's are in their 30's and they love their Disney items still. I made a Tinkerbell quilt for a high school girl (she had knee surgery and was having a long recovery period) her quilt went to college with her and still uses to day and she is in her mid 20's. My eldest DD's BFF had a Pooh Bear blanket that she used until it was thread bare and still keeps it close. (She is 37 yrs old.)

Maybe a fairy panel? Little girls seem to like them and it wouldn't be themed so that they would get tired of the character as quickly.
