Panels stack n whack
 

I am looking for a tutorial link on how to cut panels to make a stack n whack please

It doesn't matter if the fabric is a panel or a section of patterned fabric. The object is to have the repeats and make sure they match up. I Googled Stack & Whack from a panel. This was one of many that was listed.

Ha. I found the same link. as long as you can match areas of all layers, you should be able to use panels. may be difficult but one can try. Perhaps someone on here has done that.... I've done it with yardage. Have fun !!!!

If you're a YouTube person, panel one block wonder search can give you great tutorials on how to match and stack the panels to cut. Pinterest also has links to blogs also that give good descriptions and pictures of the process. Have fun, this is on my bucket list too.

Using panels is the same as regular yardage. Actually easier because the repeat pieces are already separated! I layer 2 pieces, then use a straight pin to make sure they align at key spots all over. Poke, lift and peek, adjust. then pin. One layer at a time.

This is the panel quilt that I completed.

Most panels are perfect for One Block Wonder/Stack n Whack quilts. The only problem is that they may not give you enough fabric if you just buy 6 and layer them. You may have to buy multiples of 6 to get a bigger quilt.

It is fun to buy one extra and piece that into the backing. I am definitely not a fan of putting a whole panel on the front as I think that takes away from the beauty of the hexagonal blocks, but it is fun to see the panel on the back.

I've seen a nice video tutorial by Missouri Star Quilt Shop about using a lovely peacock panel for a Stack and Whack. She layered 6 panels and cut the wedges fairly large. Its on YouTube as Make a Kaleidoscope Quilt.
