I made this guitar quilt for my DH for his 40th b-day. I traced his guitar onto freezer paper to use as a template. I then machine appliqued it down with invisible thread. I used different stitches to make the frets (sp?) on the neck. I also used embroidery floss for the strings. The background is fabric with sheet music.

Hope this gives you some ideas.....

thats a great quilt. i just love it.

my DH is a producer and his recording studio is covered with quilts that i made for him.

quite a few of my clients are musicians and recording studios. i've done studio installs where my quilt tops are wrapped around the acoustic foam.

Thanks, Klue! I've heard of wrapping the foam with fabric, I bet it looks pretty cool with quilts wrapped around.

Here are a couple of close up pictures:

The strings look a little loose because of the way the quilt was laying. They get pretty straight when it's hung. I just tacked them down every few inches to keep them in place.
