Pantos

You can use some wall paper or the trim for pantos.

What a cool idea! Now I need to go looking at wall paper!

And if you want to draw your own out - the rolls of doctor's exam table paper are great - not too wide, endless length and thin enough that you can see your fabric through if you're putting the panto on the quilt top itself . I do this if I want to sew right through it, that way I don't have to destroy my original.
Also, if you want to do several motifs scattered over an area, you can trace one, then layer more pieces of the paper beneath and stitch (without thread, and with an old needle) to make a row of dots to follow to repeat the motif exactly in multiple places.

Another cheap source for paper is end rolls from your local newspaper. My newspaper has 2 sizes. I get the 14" with several thousand feet. The paper is a little thicker than doc-exam paper, but you can see thru it pretty easily.
