Paper piece to regular pattern piece
 

Can anybody tell me if you can take a papper piece pattern and make it into a regular pattern? I want to do Magnolia bud in quilters cache. Please PM me if ANYBODY has an answer or answers for me. Thanks in advance. Boop56

It depends on the pattern. Some might be too complicated. You could make an applique instead.

I think you could if you cut out templates. Be very, very cautious with those triangles and their bias, though.

Do you not like paper piecing?

I know that "someone" (a well known internet instructor) made a video or tutorial about this - now if I could just find it! I'll keep looking!

if its not to complicated a pattern you can.

I looked up the Magnolia bud pattern and you can do it without paperpiecing. Take the pattern and cut it apart. Then add 1/4 inch around each piece and you can sew them together without the paper.

you need to trace your shapes- add 1/4" seam allowance around each piece and cut out templates.

ckcowl has it right... there is no problem with making a copy, label each pc. the numericals are fine and will still serve to tell you which pcs to sew first... if you need that... but after cutting...that's when you add your seams... then sew it up...don't worry about the complication level of the block...all blocks were done this way for a long time before paper piecing... the only time this is a good choice (for me...just me) is when working in minature...otherwise, it is so slow i can't stand to do it... study the pattern...are there pcs that you could pc strips and then cut some smaller pcs together...watch your seams..if you do this there will be no seam allowance between the two pcs.... have fun... i know paper piecing is a viable choice for a lot of people, but you do have the choice for yourself....
