Hi Quilters, I,m looking to start a paper piecing quilt. Its my first and not sure on what to do. I was thinking of a Kaleidoscope Star pattern. Any help would be helpful. Lorie

If you have never paper pieced i would start with something easy to get your feet wet . Also check out Carol Doaks web site she has some great free patterns .
if you have any questions just ask, you will get help here

I would start with something with only four pieces to a block. Make a small wallhanging so you ingrain the backwards thinking into your brain. Then go for your Kaleidoscope!! Add a quarter is a huge help. Once you know the size of piece that you need for each section then pre-cut them, stack them up and chain piece a bunch. You will make less mistakes.

My next project is Judy Niemeyer's Bali Wedding Ring. I did her Autumn Splendor and Ive done a Karen Stone also.

Hello Seamstone

I did my first Carol Doak pp flower on Sunday and I'm thinking of something greater - cut out her free little tool kit holder yesterday and my thoughts are gearing up. I have several of Carol's books, including vests. Thanks for mention of Judy and Karen designs also

I have a book of pp patterns called Backyard Birds, and I just love the patterns. They do take a bit of work...they are challenging, but the result is stunning! Great patterns.
