I love paper piecing...NOW. At first, it drove me crazy, because everything is reversed. If I am short on the fabrics I am using, I print an extra of the pattern, properly labeled, and cut it out. I can then use those 'extra' pattern pieces as templates in cutting out my fabrics, remembering to reverse and add seam allowances.

Some patterns, like Dresden plates, and Mariner's compasses are much faster and easier paper pieced, even though that is not the traditional way.

Measure each piece per block. Say one of the points is piece 1 and it is 3 x 4 - cut as many as you need with your rotary cutter 4x5. Stack all pieces in the right order and go to it. One thing I was told that really helped was:

When you are placing a piece of fabric over the space, I always was holding it up to the light, flipping it etc. Pre-fold all the lines, and crease with a fingernail (in front of the TV you can pound them out in an hour for a large qulit). That way when you place subsequent pieces, you can see where to place it no matter what side you are on. Best tip I was ever given.

Yes, I have a bright light handy to hold PP work up to. That is terribly important.

If you are referring to the fact that your dotted florals seem to be at odd angles, then that is hard for even an experienced pp'r to accomplish. Stripes and anything that has some sort of directional design will always look off, because of the angular seam. Other than you ran out of fabric, I think you did quite well.
