Paper piecing pattern question
 

Does anyone know why they would put the 1/4 lines on the wrong side?

For half of them the 1/4 inch "line" is on the right side, but not for the other half?

This is for my bali star wedding quilt ... Thankfully I know how to make these, but just found it odd!

I'm thinking they want you to start in the middle ... but wouldn't it be easier to start at one end and finish at the other end? That's how I've been doing it

You're supposed to start in the middle with section 1. That's why the 1/4 lines are on different sides. I usually do them in order because sometimes it makes a difference.

If you start in the center like the pattern does you can easily fold back the fabric on the 1/4 inch line to trim the seam w/o a special ruler. That is my guess. Most PP patterns do that (the starting in the center instead of at one end) maybe for seam nesting????

HMM ok ... Well I'm not doing it that way LOL ... and mine look just fine!

When I did the double wedding ring quilt the pattern started at one end!

Different people write patterns in different ways. Some times you can adjust the pattern to your liking. If the seams don't interlock then there is no reason not to do it your way . Just check the assembly before you do it your way.:D

Like ube quilting, I think this pattern maker wants you to start in the middle so that when you join your next row your seams will nest accordingly. Then again, if it's working for you so far...keep going and enjoy!

This is what I was thinking also. You might want to walk through the rest of the instructions and envision the steps you're to take. It's very possible there's a good reason why the 1/4" seams on the "wrong" side.

Aren't the solid lines the sew lines? I think the dotted lines are showing how to press the seam so they nest when putting the blocks together. Maybe I don't understand the question.

Start in the center with sec.1, proceed right with sec. 2, 3, and 4. Move left for 5, 6, 7. The SOLID lines are where you sew, the dotted lines are where you trim the seam.
