Paper piecing question

I am trying to PP and I have a question. What line do you cut on after the sewing is done? I watched a Fons and Porter video and it said to cut on the solid line but she was not using the same pattern as mine. Here is a picture of the pattern and the piece i sewed. I cut on the solid line but now I'm thinking when I attach this to the background the point will be lost.

You need to cut on the dashed line. the solid line is your stitching line.

I'm thinking you should have cut on the broken lines outside the solid line. And yes, your point may be lost and the block will not fit as it should.

In that pattern you cut on the dashed line so you have seam allowance. Some patterns don't show a seam allowance, so you need to remember to cut 1/4" from your pattern edge to allow for sewing it to the other sections or the sashing. I've messed up before because each pattern can be different from different designers. I love PP, it's my favorite way to piece!

Thank you IndyCat and snooze. I suspected as much. I'm happy to have found out now before I cut anymore wrong. This board is great!

Thank Kelly. I will keep your tip in mind about different designers.
