Has anyone done any paper piecing without using paper? I saw a class that was for painless paper piecing and thought it would be worth taking. Any people out there who did this and wondered how hard it was and if it worked out fine.
Thanks everyone!! |
I have only heard of doing paper piecing without stitching through the paper. just folding it out of the way as you go. hadn't heard of this!
|
That would be of interest to me! Do you have more information?
|
I will try to look into the class more and see what I can find out.
|
So I think there is a book because it says that the book is $9.95 and I think you do use paper. Probably not completely paperless. I am going to call the store and find out for sure and get back to everyone

I think it's more work then just using the paper. It is paper piecing after all. I found that lightweight translucent vellum (not scrapbooking vellum) paper is the perfect pp paper. The right paper makes it a breeze.

Thanks so much!! I just called the store and they cancelled the class till Spring. Probably better off anyway. I will try that Vellum. Is it at Joanns?

I bought 500 sheets of lightweight vellum on sale last year. There are lots of bulk paper sites that usually have good sales. I think I paid $30 and free shipping.

Thanks so much! I will be looking for it for sure.
I always had a mess on my hands trying to take all the paper off at the end. I had to use tweezers in alot of places |
I found the link where I ordered it. I don't know if the free shipping is still available though. It's been about a year since I ordered. http://www.paperplus.com/productdeta...p?bvn=10016356

If you use a smaller stitch when paper piecing, the paper comes right off. Check out Carol Doak. She is an expert at paper piecing, and is my idol. She has a website and a yahoo group.
http://www.caroldoak.com/ She has many many hints for a beginner and is only too happy to share. |
Freezer paper PP is the method of now sewing through the paper, many like and prefer this method. Maybe try it on a few practice blocks? You can find Youtube videos on how to do it :D:D:D

I love Carol Doak also. She's on Facebook and has a group on Yahoo.I have i think most of her books and some CD's
