pastel batiks
This subject was touched upon a while back but since it didn't impact me at the time I paid little attention to it. Now I need to find a pale batik in very light olive green or blue that tends more to a country blue, or gold or maybe even a few other colors. TO MATCH fabric I purchased at JoAnn's. I need a dark (chose PEWTER TOSSED BRANCH), a medium (chose ROBE SCROLLING DOTS EARTH) and now would like to find a light in any a very pastel of any color in the other two pieces. I'm not beyond choosing a much darker batik and using what I have for the medium and light. I absolutely love the two pieces I did pick out. Not the colors that I went in looking for, but colors I'm absolutely in love with.
I wish I could post pictures, but I don't have a half a day to sit in front of this computer. JoAnn's on line, has a couple choices that might be good, but it's so difficult to tell on the computer. Can really pale batiks be found? I may have to resort to a tonal print, but I'm not wanting to. |
Yes, many pale batiks. Try eQuilter.com and hancocks-paducah.com. I think equilter's color presentation is very good (though depends some on your monitor, too), and there is a color-matching tool as well.

We carry a LOT of pale batiks:
http://www.favoritefabric.com/cgi/co..._by_color.html I'll post pictures of some of them that might work with your colors. (We have others...) The last one, I need to get a better picture of. The colors are medium shades of mustardy-gold through olive and beige, with a lot more green than this picture shows. It may be darker than what you want but it does have the olive tones. |

Can't see any pics, but I did go to the link and found a couple that might be just right. |
Sorry! I posted the reply right away and then went back in to add the pictures.
By the way... our minimum cut on the batiks is just a quarter-yard. Sometimes what works best is to get a little bit of several different colors... and this way, you don't have to buy more than you really need :-) |

Guess it depends on how much fabric you are needing but a lot of stores only cut 1/2 or a full yard and that was not what I needed for my quilt. Great prices and fast shipping too!!! |

I've got my eye on the first one------others are too blue, I think. And I'm trying to avoid directional designs. |
