Pattern this baby quilt please

I've hit a wall on this one & need pattern suggestions for this fabric. I have 2 yards of the cupcakes, 2 yards of the pink flowers on white and 1/3 yard of the rest. Any ideas on how to use the cupcakes as the focal fabric? If you have other ideas I can use it as the backing. I give up!

Some initial thoughts- I could make a simple patchwork background and appliqué a few cupcakes randomly tossed...or add a row of cupcake fabric like this:
or this or this ...
Help, I'm overthinking this.

I really like the square in square. You could use the cupcake fabric as the center and the various colours as the corner triangles. I think it would look less busy with some (possibly) solid coloured sashing. Your fabrics are beautiful.

All 3 are cute, but I like the first one the best, not sure why....

Both are pretty. Have you considered the BQ2 ? It will focus on cupcakes as the main block.

nwm50 11-22-2014 10:46 AM

Forgo to say the last one is my favorites!

I like the first one best, but any of them would work.

Pattern using a focus(cupcake) square alternating with 4-or 9-patch or alternate HST or an hourglass.
I have these ones bookmarked.

Warm Wishes is a nice pattern for a focus fabric quilt.

I like all 3 of your ideas, the first one is my favorite. the BQ pattern is another great option for your fabrics with the cupcakes being the large square in this pattern.

ManiacQuilter2 11-22-2014 02:24 PM

I agree with Tartan. Warm Wishes would make a great quilt. You can actually make the focus square a little larger if you want some difference in the sizes of the squares.

My vote is for Warm Wishes - love this pattern for a focus fabric!! I would love to know how you did the designs with your fabric? I'm amazed!!

Thanks for the info. I thought you were designing them yourself! My funny but you should have taken the credit. You did all the research. Happy Thanksgiving!

I like both of these. Others may have more ideas.

I love Warm Wishes. I really like your first one to use up stash for a charity quilt.

yobrosew 11-24-2014 06:41 AM

I like the first one, with the cupcake being the strip piece across lower half. If have extra, make another strip across near top edge or make bottom a bit wider. Great fabrics, by the way! Also could do 2 or 3 inch strips instead of squares and have the wider cupcake strip.

I love #1.

tessagin 11-24-2014 07:04 AM

All are adorable! or do a sampler!

KnitnutBZ 11-24-2014 01:13 PM

I like the first one with a cupcake fussy cut square. I am not much for busy ness. But that's my style. Don't forget to post a picture of whatever one you choose.mthe colors are great.

Judith1005 11-24-2014 01:16 PM

I love the first one as well. Love the idea of using the cupcakes as the focal row. I just love patchwork!

klswift 11-24-2014 01:22 PM

I like to use churn dash for this type of print. Fussy cut the cupcakes and you could use the larger amount of print for the solid squares and vary all the blocks by using the assorted thirds. It makes for a very quick quilt but still highlights a print.

Nice suggestion! I think I'd do something like this if it was my project.

No suggestions here (you'll get many good ones, I'm sure) but just wanted to say your fabrics are ADORABLE! I love them! Please post photos of this quilt when you get it made.

cathyvv 11-25-2014 07:00 PM

I like the first and the diamond, a lot. The second one is too busy for me, but a baby would probably love it!

IBQUILTIN 11-28-2014 12:20 PM

I love the simplicity of the first one. I think it would be striking in those fabrics. Go for it
