I think it's great. I wouldn't change a thing!

KathyKat 04-20-2012 05:45 AM

That looks like the Wow factor to me! Don't change a thing!! Your choices are right on. I think you have a good eye for color, texture and pattern!

butterflies5518 04-20-2012 05:57 AM

Super nice - great fabric choices - keep it going.

quiltmom04 04-20-2012 06:35 AM

The pattern is great! Just make sure that the 9 nine patch squares are very light and very dark and the big HST squares a decidedly medium, so you don't get blocks that look they are bleeding together. Mostly your choices are right on, but there are a few where the 9 patches block sort of runs into the HST colors. ( the paisley in the second and third row is what catches my eye). I love the design!

mdall 04-20-2012 07:05 AM

I agree with everyone. I really like it and would leave it alone.

G-maBecky 04-20-2012 07:43 AM

WOW!!! I love it!!

Annaquilts 04-20-2012 07:47 AM

You will not loose the pattern as there is a strong contrast between darks and light. I at times loose part of the pattern on purpose. Your pattern layout and fabric is stunning. Go for it!

wildyard 04-20-2012 07:51 AM

I also love what you have done and the colors you have chosen. My only thought might be, if you want to break it up a little more is that you could try turning some of your HSTs into the Jacob's Ladder pattern, where the darks meet points and the lights meet points. All you would have to do is make some of the 9 patches opposite of the ones you have so the darks are on the corners for the light HSTs and the lights are on the corners for the dark HSTs. Except for the placement of the darks and lights, everything else is the same as you have it. I don't think this would add any more WOW factor than you already have, it would just be another way to break up the pattern in a large quilt.

I applaud your taking on this large of a project so early in your quilting ... a king size scares me now and I've been quilting for a number of years!

This is going to be a real beauty, the fabrics, colors and pattern play so well together.

Beehiveof9 04-20-2012 08:46 AM

It is stunning as it. I wouldn't change a thing!

Dotha 04-20-2012 09:08 AM

It is very nice. Don't change anything. Black and Brown quilts are so pretty.l I have the fabrics collected and black/brown quilt is on my bucket list.

carolynjo 04-20-2012 10:14 AM

King size really scares me and I think i maybe should have went with a simpler pattern (this is a lot of sewing), and I am willing to change the pattern if it would be for the best. I really want it to be special and I'm just afraid that I will get it done and it wont have the wow factor. I would appreciate any thoughts and suggestions.

I think it is beautiful I love brn and blk together and simple nine patch.

EvelynJ 04-20-2012 12:54 PM

Why are you changing it? It's perfect just the way it is. Love it.

grammyBev 04-20-2012 01:46 PM

Keep doing what you are doing. Looks great!

sustraley 04-20-2012 03:28 PM

I think it looks great.

Christine27 04-20-2012 04:34 PM

I love it too!

peppermint31 04-20-2012 05:16 PM

the only place that you are loosing the contrast is where the HST is the same fabric as the nine patch below it. That is what I noticed when I squinted but overall I love the pattern!

sew1 04-20-2012 07:19 PM

It is going to be gorgeous. Love the pattern you have going. Don't change it.

sharin'Sharon 04-20-2012 08:11 PM

I agree. It's beautiful. She's going to love it.

Janice Thompson 05-02-2012 04:15 PM

That's really a nice pattern. It shows the different values

nativetexan 05-02-2012 05:31 PM

see if your library has Machine Quilting in Sections by Marti Mitchell (I think). you could finish sections and then sew those together to make it King size. black and brown. you may need more of those colors but it's looking wonderful so far!!

nycquilter 05-02-2012 07:05 PM

great quilt. and good contrast which will mean the pattern will not be lost. Your fabric choices are great. Don't let what others think worry you, just follow your gut and go. Your instincts seem right on!
