Pattern Ideas Please
 

I belong to a charity quilt group associated with the local senior center. We get a lot of donations and the conditions range from old sheets and curtains that are musty from the attic to components of a persons lovingly gathered stash donated by their families after they pass away. My question is about the latter. This beauty has been sitting on our shelves for quite a while and I volunteered to identify a pattern that can be used to construct 2 or more lap or throw sized quilts. The fabrics are moda and thimbleberry, in their original wrapping and had the title "Daisy Dash" penned on the label. No pattern of course. The kit has 25 fat quarters, 6 yards of white background fabric and 3 lengths of 1 - 1.5 yardage. Really pretty with soft greens, pinks, yellows and lavenders.

Any recommendations on a simple scrappy quilt with a lot of white background? Something interesting looking but suitable for beginners.

Simple seems to be what you are looking for. Why not make 9 patches using the beautiful coloured fabric for 5 of the squares and the white for the other 4. Then you could play with the layout--including alternating a 9 patch with a snowball block. Again very simple but there are lots of layout options.

So many possibilities could evolve from this selection.
And easy to piece ones too.

My first thought was a Trip Around the World ..... all squares
White could be part of the Trip.

I know you said you want to use lots of white .... Irish Chain would be my choice!
And there are so many variations that could be done.

Don't forget you will need backing fabrics.
To save buying, plan your quilts, and allow for the backing as part of the plan.

I just made a strip tube quilt that was very easy, using a jelly roll, but you could easily cut the fat quarters into 2.5" strips. you can make a lot of designs with half square triangles.
they are easy to make then make your own designs or look in book / magazines for different layouts

These are such soft, delicate colors, so my first thought was a French Roses quilt - but that is applique and not what you asked for. Beautiful fabrics and my favorite motif is hearts and you could make many different hearts with the different fabrics. I like the pattern link that "alikigirl" sent. Also there is disappearing 9-patch that would use different fabrics and it is an easy pattern. Also, MSQC has tons of patterns and Jenny Doan gives such good tutorials for you. Good luck on your decision and please share a picture when you finish.

Those are pretty fabrics. I think I would be inclined to group the pinks blues and and lavender into one quilt and the peaches and greens into another. Maybe the green pictured just above the pink lavender and green stripe could go with the pink blue and lavender one. Here is a cute braid (aka herringbone) quilt done in those colors. I thought of a Yellow Brick Road pattern.
Fat Quarters required:
Baby size (48" x 57") = 6 fat quarters + 1 3/8 yds. border & binding + 3 yds. backing
Lap size (57" x 75") = 12 fat quarters + 2 yds. border & binding + 3 1/2 yds. backing
Twin size (66" x 93") = 18 fat quarters + 2 3/8 yds. border & binding + 5 1/2 yds. backing
Full size (84" x 93") = 24 fat quarters + 2 5/8 yds. border & binding + 7 1/2 yds. backing
Queen size (93" x 102" = 30 fat quarters + 2 7/8 yds. border & binding + 8 1/2 yds. backing
King size (120" x 120")+= 48 fat quarters + 3 1/2 yds. border & binding + 10 5/8 yds. backing

Another vote for Irish Chain here—double.
