Pattern Ideas
I'm new-er to this. Have done a Nine-Patch Variation and a simple block quilt. Looking for something a little more challenging for the next project. Ideas?

check out bonnie hunter's web site quiltville.com lots of free patterns with very good instructions.

I do more modern style quilts and get patterns from books, magazines and the internet. There is just so much to pick from so I suggest you just google easy quilt patterns and spend several hours browsing. Pretty soon you will start "gravitating" back to the designs that you like. Then you can find either a free pattern or invest in a book with designs you like. You might find some of the quilting books at the library and save a few dollars

Disappearing nine-patch is a little more complex but still easy; ends up looking much more difficult to make than it actually is. You can also do a lot with rail fence blocks.

Warm wishes is an easy pattern that looks difficult.

Any pattern with smaller pieces is more challenging than the exact same pattern made with large pieces. So you could try those same patterns on a smaller scale than you made before. When you are ready, a pattern with half square triangles is more challenging than one with only squares and rectangles, but I'd stick to larger units at first to avoid frustration. Blocks like Churn Dash and Shoo-Fly would be good starters. You can find lots of free block patterns on quilterscache.com. I would just avoid patterns with long skinny triangles or flying geese for now, and just stick to those with half square triangles. Great question, and you are a wise "new-er" quilter to have asked it!

The Quilter Cache on line by Marcia Hohn is excellent.

I suggest Trip around the world ( done strip method) ,Rail fence, or maybe an Irish chain (double or triple).
