pattern for layer cake and charm pack

I am looking for ideas using 1 layer cake and 1 charm pack. I have several of these and would like to get busy using them. I really don't want to just cut them up to make blocks.

I don't have any ideas but I'm looking forward to reading about some!

Moose on the Porch blog had a layer cake quilt along in 2010 which can still be accessed. Button on right of web site. Also she has a current mini quilt quilt along called Simply Charming (which) follows her book of the same name. Both at Moosequilts.blog
sorry these are not using both layer and charm together.

Ah! Something I can actually help with! I'm making this quilt (minus the applique): http://www.unitednotions.com/fp_athill-range.pdf

You will end up needing part of a second charm pack to make this quilt, or you can cut up a few of the layer cake squares. But still, it comes together easily and quickly. I wanted a smaller lap quilt, so in addition to skipping the applique, I left off the border. It still looks really nice.

Missouri Star Quilt Co has several tutorials on using layer cakes, I have made a few of them, they are prettty fast to make. try them out.

Check on the Moda site for the free patterns in the bake shop. Great variety! There is one that I am doing that uses a layer cake but can also use charm squares.

Suzanne McNeil has a couple of books on 10-minute blocks using layer cakes that are fast and fun and if you want a smaller quilt, charm squares work, too. She has tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt Company.

A book that is pretty fun is Schnibbles times two...every quilt in the book has directions for making with layer cakes, or with charm squares so you can make a large quilt and/or a small quilt with the same design.
