I am the chairperson for our quilt guild holiday party. My committee needs to make 20 table centerpieces that will be given away as prizes. These need to be relatively inexpensive to make. We'd really like to "recycle" 16 oz canning jars by turning them into candle jars. That part is easy & cheap enough to do, since we will simple insert a votive candle and pour in sand to stabilize it. But I'm having trouble finding a pattern to make a candle jar wrap. When I search online all I am finding is candle mat patterns. Does anyone have a pattern for a candle jar wrap that would fit around a large 16 oz canning jar? Thanks, in advance, for your help :-)

Can you adapt a mug mat pattern or just measure around the jar, adding seam allowances? Or a potholder pattern but make it rectangular according to jar size.

Yes, I suppose it could be as simple a that ...... I just thought that maybe there was a pattern, per se.
Thanks!

Do you want something that covers the jars?

I made some of these jars as gifts and to sell and I just made a sleave of fabric. Then I used trim and lace to decorate them. I crocheted a small doily for the bottom of it and hot glued the doily to the botton. The next thing I did at the base of the jar I hot glued small to medium flowers and bows. Got other ideas to....I just have fun with it.

Yes, bearisgray, that is what I had in mind. I have found a cute trio of appliqued snowmen from an old Art to Heart booklet by Nancy Halvorsen that I think I can use. Size is just right for a 16 oz canning jar. Very whimsical. I like the idea of winter, as opposed to Christmas, since they can get more use out of it (winter can be painfully loooong here in CNY!). Directions have you embroidering the words "Winter ... a time to gather friends", but I think it will look fine if we simply use pigma pens for the lettering.

RkayD, that looks like a fun project and looks like the perfect idea.
