Pattern for a Quilter's Project Bag ?
 

Hi everyone - I am looking for a pattern to make a Quilter's Project Bag that you can fold in half to close. It would be to hold a ruler, cutting mat and some tools ( rotary cutter etc )
Can anyone help please ?

I googled 'quilter's tote pattern with pressing station' Didn't look at the rest of the hits.

You can just design your own. Make a small quilt twice the size you have in mind. Bind, and add handles. Sew pockets on in inside & outside to match your needs. You will probably need a stiff home dec interfacing so the corners don't flop, or add zippers on the sides.

I made a bag that was just the right size for my mat, most rulers, etc. Just did a simple 5" squares for the outside, added some pockets to fit certain rulers on the inside. I made it horizontal, with two padded handles so it would go over my shoulder. It was great....until I carried it a time or two! I then re-thought my idea, and made another one but vertical with the opening at the top. It is just a rectangle with inside pockets, but now my long ruler sticks out less, and pull less on the sides of the bag. I think I will add a snap strap inside to keep that long ruler in place. I gave the first one to a fellow quilter and she was delighted, but I am much happier with the 2nd one. It doesn't open and lay flat like you described, but it fits an ironing pad, cutting mat, large rulers, pockets for smaller rulers and rotary cutters and that really long ruler just fine.

Perhaps you could use this idea and bounce off it for pockets to hold other tools, handles to carry.
As I need to remake mine, I think I'll do that on the new one!

I, too, just made my own. Got out all the things I thought I would want to take somewhere and started playing. I did not make hard sides. I found some large scraps of both fabric and batting and quilted the whole thing first then added pockets after placing the various items on top of my quilted piece. Added a couple of handles to the top edge. I have not used it often as I don't take many classes or go to regular sewing groups but it does work well for me. So far, I've not needed anything that I didn't include with my initial design. Perhaps if I used it more it would need some re-working but so far, so good.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]567902[/ATTACH]Here is the quilting bag I made a few years ago, I used 5 inch squares - 18 across the front, and back - in one piece, that allows one for each end therefore total 18 across, and 6 down and then you will also need an extra row across for the bottom , I put this row on the backside and then sewed it to the front side and at each end. You will see from the picture, I put 3 pockets on the front to hold my square up rulers, books/papers, and placed another pocket for my longest ruler crosswise, it also keeps the bag from bending. Also used PelTex, which is very heavy and you can stitch this into the lining of your bag, and it will retain its shape/ I also put batting in the handles, making them long enough to carry over your shoulder. I wished I would have put flannel inside my bag, and insulbrite behind it, along with a zipper down both sides - then I could have used it as a design wall, and an ironing station when at retreats.

I still haven't made a couple totes I have patterns for and also have the pattern for the Bionic Gear bag. Haven't made that one yet. Need to take that with me when I go up north indefinitely in couple weeks.
