I am looking for a pattern for a sewing machine caddy. I sits under your machine and has a holder that hangs in front of you to hold all your stuff so it doesn't get lost under all the fabric. The ones I have seen have clear plastic in front or a contrasting fabric. I have asked but everyone says they found the instructions on line. I have tried and have not found it. Maybe it is called something else? It reminds me of an arm chair caddy but for your sewing machine.

here's the one i have - mccall's - if you can catch a sale, you could probably get it for $2 or so.

Thanks for the link - the rainy day ones looks like one on the McCall's pattern.

Here's one my sister made for me. It looks like the same pattern, but I'll ask her where she got it.

Patty I just love that bucket tote!

Just an idea ... in the past I have purchased clear plastic over-the-door shoe holders from the dollar store and cut them up to the size I've needed and modified them to fit. The plastic see-thru pouches are big enough to hold larger items (scissors, etc) and also large enough to fit your hand in to retrieve. (I had leftover holders from the "Beany Baby" days that I needed to find another use for.)

Thank you all for your replies. I now have what I needed.

isn't that cute? i think i'm going to make the chair one. my machine sits down in my table so i don't think the other one would work. but the chair one should!

And as a bonus you can just throw it in the wash if it needed it!

I went to a quilt show 3 weeks ago and they had a demonstration of that using store bought place mats. You just sew up the sided and up the middle or maybe in thirds and you have pockets for scissors, thread, measuring tape etc.

Hope this helps.

That is a great idea!!!The pockets can be customized and the placemat is stiff enough to have good "body" and stay put better.

What am I missing? I didn't see any bucket tote or chair one. All I saw were ones to set under the machines.

Thanks,
Donna

check the fabric store - McCalls or Simplicity has a pattern for this - check under crafts. Also, check Hancock Fabrics and Jo-Ann Fabrics web sites - may have them there.

Uh Oh .... I see a gift in the making for my quilting buddies birthday! She loves purple and I have some beautiful silk scraps that would work up into this great! Maybe a new pair of sissors and some spare machine needles, a stiletto and that would be a nice gitft. She is always going to some class or retreat or something. This is going to be wonderful girls THANKS!
