Pattern for swim meet ribbons quilt

My granddaughter is on swim team and has won several ribbons. She wants me to make a quilt using her ribbons. Does anyone know of a pattern for using ribbons?

I would worry about how they would wear. They often are floral-type ribbon not meant to be laundered. Having said that, you could certainly make a wonderful quilted wall hanging. You could make simple blocks, like sawtooth stars and applique the ribbons onto the sashing. out of curiosity, I googled 'sport ribbon quilts' There are many hits, including a site where she makes them into quilts. In the FAQ, she says they are not quilted quilts, cannot be washed & should be used as wall hangings.

How about a wall hanging? I would be concerned about using them in a quilt that would be washed. Most of the "Ribbons" that my daughter earned at swim meets were made from craft ribbon and were icky when they got wet.

I might be tempted to sew them on a plain background fabric and sash them using the colors of the swim team.

There have been a couple of quilts on QB of ribbons. I think one was horse show ribbons? I don't think they would wash well but you could sacrifice one to hand washing and see.

Reading your request, this pattern came to mind - maybe it could be adapted for ribbons/wall hanging?

I have a lot of ribbons but they don't appear to be washable so I just hang them on the wall. How about using some Velcro so that the ribbons can be removed when the quilt is to be washed??
