Hi,

Can anybody help me with a pattern for a teddybear?

mom-6 11-24-2010 03:53 AM

I used to have one that was either Simplicity or McCall's, but it is long gone. Have you checked their websites?

phatquilts 11-24-2010 06:13 AM

Welcome, just wondering....what size did you want?

If you do a "search" on Q forum here you may find an applique size (4" or 5"). or did you want the full size cuddle bear?

CarrieAnne 11-24-2010 06:24 AM

Did you want a stuffed one, or applique one?

carhop 11-24-2010 06:46 AM

Gullet 11-24-2010 07:37 AM

Remembered I saw this yesterday. Hope it's what you want. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

there is a pattern for one in Eleanor Burns book called "Christmas at Bear Paw Ranch." I bought this book many years ago and have used it many times for all the ideas and patterns in it. Well worth the money

The Sebastian Bear on this web site is adorable & the pattern is free. Can't get better than that!

I just bought a Simplicity bear pattern - #5461. Easy. Has several size variations. Hope it is what you are looking for.

Holice 11-25-2010 05:19 AM

a very very easy bear pattern is from Carol's Zoo. Has two pieces and can literally be made in one hour. It sounds too simple but the bear does have some personality and is cute.

fancifrock 11-25-2010 07:08 AM

Simplicity 5461 is my favorite. I have made a half a dozen out of fleece for the children's hospital. It makes up really fast and is so cute.

Possibilities, or The Great American Quilt Factory, in Denver, CO have my favorite nonjointed teddy bear pattern. It comes in 3 sizes in one pattern and 1 large bear in another. They don't have eyes or nose to bother with, but I'm sure you could add them if you want. Their addie is www.possibilitiesquilt.com. Hope this helps you.

I came up with a teddy bear pattern (free to download)at www.howjoyful.com - it's a pretty good-sized bear and besides being able to print out the pattern pieces (covers several pages), she has a complete tutorial. Haven't tried making it yet but it looks pretty "do-able."

Hi Magpie: Thank you for the website. I found the directions for making thread catchers which I copied and plan to make as gifts for all the ladies in my quilt club. I've made them before but didn't have a pattern and find the ones I made had a few "imperfections" that I never bothered to fix. Now with the pattern I'll just make the bags RIGHT the first time....no "do overs!" Thank you.

I also enjoyed that site and the cute things they provide patterns for at no charge. I and my children/grands/great grands are past the teddy bear age so I won't be making any of those but did enjoy the idea of using Kool Aid as a dying medium for fabric. May use that sometime.

Hope you and yours had a Blessed Thanksgiving, too.

Do you mean a stuffed animal or a quilt pattern? If you mean a quilt pattern there is one here...

I made a custom pattern for bears 18-21" and will mail you a copy if you would like. I don't have instructions for it but if you sew much you should be able to figure it out. Just send me a snail mail address!

tryitall 11-26-2010 10:07 AM

Check Carol's Zoo.com. Her patterns are real easy and quick and cute!

I bought a one seam teddy bear pattern years ago and it was the easiest one I have ever used. It was from a craft designer line, a woman's name. I think it was a McCalls pattern but could have been Simplicity or even Butterick. I haven't seen Butterick patterns in any stores now days. I don't think I kept it but I'll look in my old patterns and see.

I just found 2 patterns for teddys. One smaller than the other.
Both are only 2 piece. Back and front. Real cute. I'd like to
send them to you but need a name and address.\

E-mail me at [email protected]
I am from Canton, NY

I use the two piece pattern for the ones we make for the local policemen to carry in their trunks for emergencies. I make them out of fleece so they are washable and can go with children everywhere.

I really like Carol's Zoo patterns. Make up fast and cute as a button.
