I need to know the best thing to do... if anyone use PE Design card reader/writer - can you help me with an answer? I need to purchase SOME software... do I go with PE Design? or PE Design Next? I would LOVE to be able to edit my stuff... but don't have alot of extra money. What is your recommendation?

I am a die hard embird user. I think it is the best of everything for a very reasonable price.

embird? Isn't that a website? Wouldnt I still need a card reader?

Whether or not you need a card reader would be dependent upon what type of machine you are using. For example, if your machine will accept a flash drive, or usb link then you would not need to be able to save to a card. Most of the machines I'm aware of that are older accepted floppy disks. In that case you save your design to a floppy. Only if you only use the 'cards', would you need a card reader.

I have PE Design ver 5, and can do limited editing of purchased designs, depends of the designer. Can always add lettering and resize, and combine designs. And design my own!! I think the newer versions are even easier. It is primarily a digitalizing package, to create your own designs. Is that what you want, or are you more interested in purchasing designs and editing them for your own use?

not quite clear whether you actually have the box/card and can currently write to your machine.
