Peaches and Cream--Who Knew???

A while back I found a really good price on an assorted 6 pack of the 16.9 fl oz Mary Ellen's Best Press. Each bottle also came with a spray nozzle. The original bottle I purchased about 3 years ago I now have filled with Sta-Flo starch but I was wanting to try the Best Press again.

Today I took out the bottles and selected Peaches and Cream. I was hesitant about this scent because it sounded like it would be too sweet or artificial smelling. However, after pressing using it for the past 30 minutes I feel better than I have all day. My neighbors are repairing their back deck and making all kinds of loud noise (table saw, air compressor, automatic nail guns, work men arguing and blaring radio music--for 3 straight days!!!). I think maybe this scent has a bit aromatheraputic properties. I highly recommend it. Now, I need to find more items to press to stay "happy".

Sounds like you have found a scent that will take you to your Happy Place!

I would gladly send over all my ironing just to keep you in your 'Happy Place'! Coming from a person who is highly allergic to perfumes and scents, you are very lucky.

I'll remember that next time I get any.

As a Southern gal myself, I'd say peaches can most definitely do that for ya! :D

Not knowing anyone with this allergy....does it extend out to nature...I.e., flower, cut grass, sweet grass.....just curious and feel sad for you that you cannot enjoy pleasant scents......

Unfortunately, yes. But there is no rhyme or reason to mine. Very heavily perfumed flowers affect me like paperwhites, lilies and a few others. I can't go into a florist shop anymore. I have to go down the detergent aisle at high speed. I am in complete abject misery at work from coworkers whose fragrance affects me. Cut grass does not bother me. Hay doesn't bother me. The smell of a barn, no problem. Spring blooming trees like lilac, dogwood, cherry blossoms, plum blossoms and apple blossoms, so far I am ok. Most scented candles are bad but a few are ok. I can usually cope with pine scent and anything that smells like baked goods, Yankee candle brand only at this point. Even some deodorant scents will give me a splitting headache. It is a horrible affliction and is affecting more and more people. Some researchers believe using fragrances will someday be frowned upon as much as smoking in enclosed public places. They suspect it is mostly the artificially, chemically developed fragrances. I do believe those affect me worse but I have also had a problem with the natural ones I have mentioned. And it gets worse every year.

I like the peaches and cream smell but after a while it starts to bother me. According to my allergy Dr I am not technically allergic to scents and perfumes but am sensitive to a lot of them. I am afraid to bring the scented best press home any more because some scents bother me. I recently purchased a gallon of unscented best press. I love the stuff. It is one of the quilting tools I'm not sure how I live without all these years. I am happy you found a scent that takes you to your happy place.

Love the smell of fresh peaches when you bite into them!!! I usually spray my sewing area with lavendar, but that would be a nice smell as well.

Funny how scent can make you feel happy, but I'll take it. Laundry dried on the line, fresh cut grass, a baby and a man's favorite - new car smell. Thanks for making us think about one of the little things in life that give pleasure 'cause for sure we get enough of the other kind.

I know this isn't true for those with allergies but when I was about 11 I had headaches when my grandmother bought new yarn in the house. I thought she would be sad about my headaches and stop buying the yarn. She told me it was annoying and to get over it. I never got another headache from new yarn again. I always wondered about that.

Most natural scents I can take easily. However, I have one iris, very heavily scented, that gives me headaches when it's in bloom. Cannot do the laundry aisle at all, candle areas, perfume counters and the like. Deodorants, hand creams, shampoos, etc., all bother me too. My daughters know this and do not wear scented stuff around me. To get around the laundry issue, I make my own homemade laundry soap.

I haven't tried that scent, but it sounds great!
