Peacock quilt - need more fmq advice

I decided to go with the King Tut 927 variegated thread and it's working out well. I did one of the shams first in case I messed up. I guess I got OCD or something and I quilted the poor thing to within an inch of it's life. My question - besides using a lot of thread, can you overquilt something? DH thinks it looks great. Can't see very well on front but here is back. Thanks!!!

I think husband is absolutely correct. The peacock is stunning. Just beautiful. Not to worry!

I think what you did is beautiful the colors and the quilting is great!!

How much quilting is too much depends on how you look at the finished product. If it is too stiff or too flat for your taste, then do a little less quilting. Some items I do are quilted densely and some that I want soft and drapey I quilt less densely. I go for a certain look and feel -- when I get to that point I stop.

Beautiful job of quilting! I love thread painting with my LA, so I have quilted even more densely than your lovely peacock! However, most quilts that are very densely quilted are done for the big shows, not for cuddling under because the dense quilting does make them stiff. It's great for wall-hangings though! Since you did the sham first you can tell if the peacock is too stiff to make a comfortable quilt, or if it is just fine. I love it like you did it!!
