I am getting ready to make some bags hopefully over the weekend. Some of my patterns call for fusible fleece, another one for peltex and a third just for batting. Does anyone recommend one over the other?

JoAnn Fabrics has a bolt of peltex on sale for $40. I made a bag in a class at my LQS and remember thinking the stuff we put in the middle wasn't cheap. But I can't remember what we used.

Anyone have positive or negative experience with one or the other. THANKS!!!

It was probably peltex...and it is pricey...
I use it and it works best, but don't like the price. I have a bolt of it and I think it cost me $40 for a half bolt...my friend and I split it.

Peltex is pricey, but if the pattern calls for it, you should use it as the particular bag you are making might need that stiff look, like a framed clutch bag. When the bag is done, it can stand up alone, no sag and the exterior is stiff. With fusible fleece, you get a soft look, stands alone, but has a sag to it. Like a sling bag. Some of my patterns call for canvas instead of Peltex, which is cheaper. Experiment what you like best and what gives you the best result for the type of bag you are making. I make lots of bags, and I learn something new everyday, especially from this board.

Great explanations on the different types. Thanks.
