The Perfect Thimble! (for me anyway)
1 Attachment(s)
I have always had issues finding a thimble that would fit my finger and be comfortable. Well not anymore! I found the perfect thimble, that can be ajdusted to any size finger, is disposable but can be reused, available in many colors, it is custom made and only cost pennies!!!
I used a product you can find in doctor offices, drugstores and horse supply stores. What is it?? VetWrap! CoBan or Co-flex adhesive wrap. It is cheaper if you buy the vet wrap. Here is a picture of mine wonderfully comfortable thimble. Give it a try, you'll be surprized! |
Interesting. I'll have to give it a go.

Thank you, I always have problems with timbles!
|
I also figured this out when I was making folded star Christmas ornaments. My fingers were so sore and I bought a couple of thimbles which turned out to be useless and a waste of $$. I work at a vet clinic so I just got a roll from there (with permission of course!)

This stuff is also great for keeping spools of thread from unravelling.
Thanks for the tip on buying the vet version. I need to use it for medical dressings and this will save me bunches of money! |
Don't your needle go through the material?

I didn't care for it as a thimble, but was fairly successful using it on all fingers when machine quilting.
When I gave blood I'd always ask if they had any nearly finished spools and there always were... |
As for me, the needle does not go thru. I guess it would and could if you push hard enough.
Never thought about using this to hold thread in place on the spools but would work for sure. This is the same product, made by the same company as the wrap I first bought in the first-aid dept at CVS only this is WAY cheaper! And comes in really cool colors! Also comes in the tan color like band-aids. |

I'm curious about this as well. Granted, I love my Thimblelady thimble but this might be handy on my under fingers. If the needles don't go through the material, I might just have to get sis to get some vet wrap for me!
