I am just wondering what (if anything) have you done to your sweet machine to make it more quilter friendly or personalized? Or maybe THOUGHT about doing but haven't (yet)?
I finally put a small piece of velcro on the side of my machine and the other piece on my seam ripper - this way when I am quilting my quilt and need it to pull the thread up from the backside to the front I am not searching for it after it has rolled under the quilt. |
I plan to make a nice cover for it :) Haven't even started that one yet LOL But I want to do lots of fun hand embroidery, applique and other embellishment that is all sewing themed!! I have made a couple for gifts for my Mum and another gal I sew with for fun on Thursday nights (we call ourselves the "Stitch n Bitch" gals!!!) hee hee.. sometimes we stitch more than the other, or vice versa!! LOL depending on the night and whats going on!! LOL
Anyway, I hope to get a start on my sewing machine cover before the end of this year. It is on my list of things I want to make this year :) |
Me too - been wanting to make a sewing machine cover. Must do!
|
I've seen pictures of Guitar Hero controllers that have been taken apart and repainted and put back together...I wonder if you could do that with a sewing machine. ...now I want a punk/goth inspired look to my sewing machine. White is so not my color.

I could see a little Link standing guard to battle the lint build up!!!
~ Instead of cutting grass he would be doing a number on the dust bunnies and turning them into something useful! |

Never gonna happen. tim in san jose |
I am an (almost) 40 year old Zelda freak!
Although my Zelda days are over for a while - not much gaming time to be had with a 2 year old and one on the way.... Zelda isn't the kind of game you can just sneak in a few minutes here or there. Definitely an hour upon hour all consuming sort of thing! someday I shall return though! |
My boyfriend got us a Wii system for Christmas and have been playing that a bit. But I think if I had to choose a favourite game it would be Warcraft. I"m not a big gamer, but I did like my Warcraft!! :)
|
I'm not a big gamer myself, there's just something so appealing about Zelda that just got me - a fun story line, lots of adventure, puzzles, lack of gore and blood!
|
I'm really getting into the Wii though... The fact that you have to stand up and do various movements like playing bowling and golf is great and keeps you active!! YOu are exercising more than your thumbs!!!
|
I haven't tried it (yet) but it looks like a lot of fun!
|
Ilena its alot of fun and very interactive.

Then I beat the Sonic game before he did (along with his girlfriend's game, "Cooking Mama")...they were mad that I beat their games before they did, but I got aknowledgement of being the best gamer in the group. But my other friend won't let me near any of his Wii games when I stay over and I think conquering Sonic and Cooking Mama might have something to do with it..."You're not playing Metroid Prime until I beat it!"...at least he lets me try to help out when he plays Metroid when I'm over. lol. |

I definatly need an hour or so to get anywhere...mostly because I loose all my lives trying to get to where ever I need to go and have to start over from someplace, which is always in the middle of the map and miles away from where you need to go. At least I keep the items I got before I died. But I quit playing Adventure of Link for now because my death rate is going into the 50's. You think that with me growing up on Nintendo that old school Zelda would be easier to play. Well, I suppose dying trying to get somewhere is better than dying because you decided to torture one chicken and then they all came after you. Poultry abuse has been met with revenge. |

Zelda theme clothes sound like fun. My husband would just shake his head about my playing habits ~ especially if he would go to work while I was playing and then come home and ooops! still playing! He'd still buy me the new games when they came out though! |

Oh my I love Zelda and Link but haven't played in years! Don't you have to have a Nintendo game to play it? See it has been many many years since I've played. We got a PS2 for the grandkids to play games when at my house, but apparently you can't get Zelda for PS2. You'll have to update me and fill me in on the new technology, LOL. sue |
Ilena..... I love your 'square in a square in a square' quilt foto! The colors are fabulous....did you use batiks, I can't quite tell in the small foto.
I made 2 of that kind of quilt for my 2 granddaughters using brights with fussy cut fabrics for the centers, then used Minkie for the backing. They love them and I would be so happy to make another one for myself! Regarding the personal touches to my machine.... I really didn't add anything or make anything but I put a little note to myself reminding me to always put my needle at 4.5 to sew a scant quarter inch each time I sew quilt blocks. sue |
I was first hooked on zelda years ago ~ on an old game boy (this is before the color game boy flying V). Ever since then we always bought nintendo for the sole purpose of me being able to play Zelda (Zelda is only available for Nintendo sue). Of course my husband was always able to find games he liked on the system but zelda was the primary reason!
Talked about hooked! Though never had a link costume and got an Epona ride~ that sounds like such a fun memory. Sue it is amazing and fun to play the games as they progressed with technology. Graphics have come such a long way but even so I got so much enjoyment out of the games. You should try to borrow an old system with zelda from someone - keep your eyes open during yard sales? |

Sue - my avatar is my pink & green beauty - all rectangles and different fabrics. Here are some more pics of it. The colors are brighter than they appear in the photos. It was a lot of fun to make.

When I'm done the tape comes up (I need to access the little drawer). I do this often enough - Why don't I just paint a line with some nailpolish or something? After all it is my machine and I need that line? Why don't I customize it to my needs????? THis kind of strikes me as funny because it doesn't sound like anyone else does either! |
Ilena ~~~ wow that quilt is really gorgeous!
Now that I can see it close up, it is not the pattern that I have called sq in a sq in a sq. but the results are similar. My pattern starts with all the same size squares in different fabrics which then get cut and shuffled and re-sewn. Yes it is fun to make also. Just love your fabrics.... wasn't it hard to decide to cut them, LOL. That happens alot with me, I fondle my fabrics for quite some time before I finally take the rotary cutter to them. Thank you for sharing your quilt in a large foto for me to see! sue ps, I didn't realize that 'avatar' was what the members pix are called |

Sue - it is difficult to cut the beauties that's for sure! It's nice to have them sitting around for awhile to admire like a treasure! The rectangles are all 2x4. In order to get lots of different pinks and greens without actually buying tons of material I got a lot of 4" squares in pinks and greens off ebay. It was great to get a variety of fabrics in the colors I needed.

you can play your GameCube games on it and you can also download old Nintendo games onto your Wii and play them...I think the price varies, depending on what system they were originally released on, but its like $5. In any case, you can play Zelda without having to get an ancient system and cartiages anymore... ...I should be working at a game store...[/quote] Being able to play the old games on the new system is a definite plus - it's sad to think that the $ spent on a system and games goes out the window once the new system comes out. I'll probably be ready to play again once the next wii comes out - hopefully by then the kids will be sleeping all through the night! Flying V - show up to a game store interview in you Link gear and you are sure to get the job!!!! |
Thanks for filling me in.
I do remember spending hours on Zelda/Link and when we first got it couldn't figure out for the longest time how to save our game and had to keep starting over and over, it was frustrating till we finally got it right. So remembering all those hours, I'm not sure I want to get hooked again, LOL, and I do remember the sore thumbs and wrist! I've already got a touch of carpal tunnel, wonder if all that thumb action was the start of it, my o my. and YES, you should work in a game store! You've got lots to offer customers like me who are clueless. sue |
Oh my, ebay! I've spent way too much time and money there, LOL. But definitely have lots of options on fabric.

Andrea:
Your quilt group name is great! Ours could be named the same but sometimes a group of ladies just need their friends to VENT and what better way to do it than to stitch and ????  |
Whoa, Ilena...your quilt is gorgeous. Love your colors and the pattern is way cool, too. Thanks for sharing.
