Pfaff 1200 and frame question...

Can anyone tell me how large of a quilt that could be finished on this frame that is 10ft and with the 9 inch harp size?
I have a 91x91 inch quilt to finish...
Thanks
Kirsten

it will be a tight fit, but can be done. how wide is your carriage? with the frame at 10ft/ 120 in, and the quilt at 91", that is 29" difference. you will need a few inches extra batting/backing on each side, so that would leave 23". if your carriage is less than that, you will be good. as to the harp size, by the time you get to the end, you will only have 3.5-4" quilting length. so you will have to start out with a design that is not taller than that. good luck

The one on my bed is 100 by 100 and I did it on that setup. Just realize you are limited in the pattern you can quilt because of the throat space and the size of the finished roll.

I have also heard that if you run out of room to quilt the design you are working with when you get to the middle, you can take the quilt off the frame and rotate to work from the other side. I have not done this but it sounds logical to me. Anyone try this method?

I have flipped a quilt around. It's not too difficult to figure out.

Thanks for the great advice everyone!!!
What type of batting would you use for a "thick" quilt...not dense quilting...
