Pfaff 2046

I purchased a Pfaff 2046 in 2006 and have had nothing but trouble with it. The machine starts acting up by skipping a few stitches on the bottom thread, then it gets so bad that it does not hold a stitch. The machine has been in the shop 6 times. BUT the good news is I found a repairman in Fort Collins, Colorado that has fixed it. He put in a new hook assembly. It cost me $450.00 but it seems to have fixed my machine. The machine has a poor design in the bobbin area when it was made and the company has come out with this "fix". But they will not cover the cost of repair. I love the dual feed that the Pfaff has so I did not want to trade it for a different brand. But this machine has tried my patience. I hope it is finally fixed. I just wanted to let my fellow quilters know of this "fix". Happy sewing!

I have a Pfaff 2038 with issues also. From the day it was new, it has been tempermental and will clunk and stop sewing at least once a year. It hates C&C thread. My daugther bought the same machine from the same dealer at about the same time and has never had an issue.

When it is working it is so wonderful. It is now needing a fix again. So this time I went and bought a Pfaff Ambition (a very very very nice machine for the money.) I am conflicted about fixing my old friend one more time. Another $100 bucks to fix the timing. (I do have a Viking and a Kenmore back up machines.) It does sound suspiciously like the same problem you had and could posibly need the same fix. $450 though - mine was new in 2001. Maybe next year.
