I just purchase a "new to me" Pfaff 2140 that was upgraded to a 2170. It came with the fabric mover and ,although I watched the video several times and feel confident that I hooked it up correctly, I cannot get it to work. I plan on talking to my local dealer next week, but was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions.

I also have a 2140 upgraded to a 2170. I bought it off Craigslist 3 years ago. I do not have the Fabric Mover however. Does the rest of the machine work (sew and embroider)? Is it just the fabric mover?

I have a 2140/70, but not the fabric mover.I vaguely remember using one a couple years ago at a Sit 'N Sew. I think you have to put the feed dogs down. Beyond that, I can't think of anything. Bernina users may be able to help, because they also have fabric movers. Try starting a new topic asking for their help.

Don't know if it will help, but found this website:

Everything else works just fine. I know it was hooked up correctly because each plug is unique and you cannot mistakenly plug something in to the wrong spot. But, when I try to move the fabric, it takes huge stitches just like if I had no fabric mover hooked up! There was a video and I watched it 3 times, so I am hoping I just missed doing some little something wrong and maybe someone will have a suggestions. I bought it especially for this feature and will be heartbroken if I have to pay someone to fix it!

I'm only guessing, but did you set your stitch length on zero?

I must have missed that part of my instructions. I will give it another try.

The Viking and Pfaff Fabric mover are basically the same (at least for the older machines). Maybe a Viking person can answer this question for you.
