Pfaff 7550 & 7570
 

Hi there - I've been trying to find info regarding the Pfaff 7550 and/or 7570 and discovered this site. I was reading that the 7550 are approx 15yrs old and motherboards getting a bit thin on the ground. Is this the same for the 7570? Whilst I have a CV, I am finding it just too heavy to lug about to retreats, sewing days, etc and a friend has the 7550 which I have been fortunate to use hence my quest to find out more about either of the machines before I commit to buy a second hand one. Given that the price for a second hand one (the 7570 is all Ive been able to find in Australia) ranges from AUD$1500 (plus freight from Queensland to Western Australia) to AUD$1250 in Perth (which is a round trip of approx 6 hours) you can see my problem wanting to ensure that it doesnt go phhhzt (as one lady put it) 5 minutes after Ive paid for it. I think the 7570 is a heavy machine to lug to classes. For weight you may want to look into the Janome Jem or a Singer Featherweight if you can find any in Australia.... Both are very light weight. Yes, I know they don't have the IDT built in, but for classes I find that my Featherweight is the best. I have all of my 'class stuff' in the rolly case that I purchased for the purpose..... I do love my 7570 and yes, the boards are hard to find. I'm not sure just what I shall do if it ever dies. I don't use the embroidery on it much (maybe once every 5 or 6 years) and all of the stitches are idle too. I may go with a mechanical Pfaff with IDT next time if I could find one.... I dont have those models, but I am still using the Pfaff Hobbymatic I bought before my 19-year-old was born. I just recently bought a C1100 with an 8 1/2 inch throat. Wouldn't have any other brand because of the IDT.

I've had my 7570 for over 12 years and have never had any problems with it. I bought another one second hand and haven't had problems with it, either. That is not to say there are any guarantees. Something can always go wrong at any time. But, I think it's a great machine.
