Pfaff question
 

I just bought a used Pfaff stretch and jeans machine and I have found two issues I need help with. One, there are no seam guides on the machine, any suggestions? Two, the metal throat plate sticks up just enough to catch the seam allowance when I'm sewing over a seam, I would just put a piece of tape to cover it but the piece that comes off for the free arm is right at the end of the metal piece. I have to take the tray off to change the bobbin so I can't really use a piece of tape there or I would have to change it every time I change the bobbin. I love how the machine sews, these are the only two issues I have found, I would appreciate any suggestions.

If it isn't a computerized machine, you can use a magnetic seam quide. They are very cheap at places like Hancock Fabrics or JoAnn Fabrics. As far as the metal throat plate, I would discuss it with a dealer.

I have the same problem with the throat plate on my Pfaff. It drove me crazy!! I finally folded a piece of duct tape into just the right thickness and stuck it under the front corner of the tray and it lifted it just enough to be flat.

Clotilde sells a stick-on seam guide that I put on my machine.

I measured from the needle out to the seam width I wanted--5/8's since I do mostly garment sewing--and used a strip of blue painter's tape across the width of the base--has been on there for a couple years already and works fine.

If it were me, Little things like that bug me. A new machine should be good to go. I would call the person that sold it to me. Maybe be it`s a flaw in the machine and they would fix it or give you a different one. My Paff is 55 years old, that would be a long time to be bugged about it every time I sewed.

It's not a new machine and I still think I got a good deal for a used machine from a dealer and certified repairman.
