Hi all, I have a question for the wiser folks out there. You know who you are...;)
I have an opportunity to purchase a PFAFF Quilt Expression 2044 for $375.00 . I looked around a little and saw that it is about a 4 plus year old machine, also that it origionaly sold for aprox. $1,300.00 to $1,500.00. The ad says that it hasn't been used much and that they would ask for more but that they are moving to Hawaii at the end of the month. Hmmmm, makes me wonder but I can always ask for the BOS. My only other working machine is my FW and I would like something higher up on the sewing chain. I have always liked the look of PFAFF's and the possibility of more than just the straight stich of my FW is making this machine look good to me. Please let me know what you think and if a 4+ year old machine is worth this price or is it "too good to be true"? Thanks, Faith :XD: |
That is an excellent price for that machine. A comparative Janome 4 years old is going for $1100.00 on Ebay. It had 31 bids on it. I would grab it.

Jump on that!! My first Pfaff was a used one I bought15 years ago and I am still using it. The IDT (duel feed) is a wonderful feature of this machine as well as the embroidery stitches. My second Pfaff is a 2144 and I have all the upgrades. The only thing I have ever done with either of my Pfaff's is a regular cleaning and oiling for the 7550. The 2144 does not require oiling. They are the best machines I have ever worked with. I think the Pfaff is worth the price. If youare questioning it, ask if you can take it to a dealer to have it checked out before you buy. My Pfaff machines were a great investment.

That is an excellent price. Go grab it before someone else does ;-)

I think that price is very good. I bought a used 2042 Quilt Expression in June for $399 and love it. My sister has an older top of the line model Pfaff that she got second hand years ago and she loves it. I just finished quilting two quilts on it. It's a work horse.

If it has the features you need, I think it's a good deal. You will like the IDT and the older Pfaffs run so smooth. I believe that this model only has a single stitch back button but that is not a must have in my book.

I've had a Phaff 2054 for 4 yrs.
I've never had to bring in for service other than yearly. I love it. |
Get it, girl! Especially for the IDT (built in walking foot)! And the wider throat? I love Pfaffs!

No one beat me too it so this is my slightly early B-Day present!!! I was sweating bullets all the way there thinking that someone would beat me to it. The guy said it was first come first served. I paid $375.00... :-D  :XD: :D :-D Sorry but I am so excited!!! He couldn't find the book for it, said that it had gotten packed with other papers so I need to DL one from the PFAFF website if I can. OK I need to go eat some dinner before I pass out from hunger and then I'm gonna go play with my new toy. :XD: :-D  :D :XD:  :-D :XD: Faith PS, Thanks for the wisdom!!!!! |
I agree with every one. As much as I love my Berninia 630... I purchased the Pfaff Expression 3 and I love it. I could sit at most of the day. Love the longer throat and I really like the 9mm versus Berninias 5 mm width. I got the demo so it was even cheaper. Plus the presser feet are so much less then geting the feet for the Berninia. Fortunately I have all I need on either of them. And I agree with the already attached IDT and if you choose not to use, you lift it up and it's out of the way with no removing it,

You will absolutely love that machine. IDT is worth its weight in gold... I almsot bought a 2044 last year and it was 500.00 and my LQS said it was worth that. A friend of mine gave me a 7570 last Oct, I love it!!!!!

Congrat's.....you will never have buyer's remorse. Enjoy..

OK now for all my questions... :?
It did not come with a manual nor any feet than what was on it. Has only a Basic sewing foot from what I can tell. It does have a hard case cover and a raised quilting table (which is missing a leg so if anyone has an extra one and want to sell, I'm your girl.) I don't want to mess anything up so I didn't play with it too much lastnight without a manual. I did sew a straight stitch while it was at the sellers house so it DOES sew. I spent more time online looking for a manual lastnight than playing with the machine. Can't seem to find one. :( I looked on PFAFF USA website but saw only newer machines. So if anyone knows where I can either find one or a downloadable one that would be great. Also any tutes availiable for this machine? Since all I have is my FW, all these bells and whistles are quite confusing... :? I had a dream lastnight that I pushed a button and it tried to bite me... LOL.... I thank you all for your time and welcome any ideas that you may have. Faith :XD: PS, will add a photo this evening. |
