I have the Expression 2, didn't want or need the extras with the Expression 4. Just wanted to say that I love it. I have been doing FMQ with it since day one. The foot came with the machine. It has the walking foot built right in for straight stitching. I'll go look at my manual and see if I can add anything.

Okay, go to page 2:17. At the top it says Sensormatic free-motion (4.0)

You will use pressor foot 6A Lower the feed dogs. It tells you how to start with the info button. Just follow the directions on the page.

Don't despair - you will love this machine once you get used to it. I've had mine for over a year and wouldn't sew on anything else now. One thing to watch out for when fmq is that you might need to reduce the Pivot height if you find you are having skipped stitches. (This depends on the batting you are using) You will see the Pivot height option once you set the machine for Sensormatic. Select this and then press the minus (-) Key to set it a -3 or -4. This bit is trial and error until you get the once that best suits.

Don't give up - you'll grow to love it :D

I have the Exp 3.0 . Wanna trade? Far as I know the FMQ (darning) foot should be included. (Mine was but was a slightly used machine.) All I can suggest is that you call the seller.

I have the 2, not the 4, so the foot I use is different from yours. But it was the hardest one to figure out. Now I can snap it on very quickly. Good luck and stick with it. It is a great machine.

I have this machine but in the UK so maybe the extra feet are different. Use the darning foot.It is a really good machine but does take time to get used to it. Try to give yourself time to play with it. The fet just click on (don't forget to disengage the IDT before changing. Persevere, it's a really great machine, honest!
Good luck and happy pfaff vibes from across the pond.

The Expression 4 doesn't use the darning foot, it uses the 6A. The Expression 2 and 3 use the darning or free motion foot but it does not click on. Not sure how the 6A attaches.

thank you all for your help,i will try them all.one esp.,didn't see anywhere that it says to disengage the idt.maybe THAT"S why i can't get the foot to go on.
hope you don't get sick of all the questions,i'm sure i'll have lots more !!
thanx again,dar

For future reference, the IDT can only be used if the back of the foot has a large opening. So you can kind of tell by looking if you can use the IDT with it. I looked at the picture of the 6A and it doesn't look open, so that may be your problem. Hope it gets to be more fun for you soon.

You might want to try
http://www.sewingpartsonline.com
they have feet for the Pfaff machine if you can't get one elsewhere. Good luck.

Dar,
I hope those suggestions are working for you. I have the 4.0 and I LOVE this machine- you will too when you figure it all out. I looked at my machine- and when you attach the 6A foot the plastic piece that sticks up on the foot sits in front of the ankle- (where the foot attaches) and the little bar on the foot just snaps onto the bottom of the ankle. I hope this makes sense! Also don't forget to drop the feed dogs- I did when I first got this machine and I remember pulling my hair out and swearing a blue streak! I hate it when stuff doesn't work right....of course it was user error. Where I purchased my machine offered a new user class; this was very helpful to me and I actually learned how to make a button hole! This machine makes it so easy!! I used to have a Pfaff 935 Hobbymatic before this machine and didn't know why anyone would need/want the needle up/down, automatic tie-offs and thread snips etc...but now after a 1.5 yrs of using this machine I wouldn't want anything else. This machine is the best thing I have ever purchased- I love it & I hope you will too! Take a deep breath, maybe take a break and come back to it and it will be easier. BTW I did buy the optional free-motion quilting foot (per the seller's recommedation) and I do like it better than the one that came with the machine. Good Luck and I hope things get easier for you!
