I also am still using my 12 year old Janome as my primary piecing/quilting machine....when I bought it, I was so nervous because I had never paid $1000 for a machine in my life. Well to say that machine has earned its place in my heart is an understatement. I have quilted over 500 baby quilts on it (so what's that?...$2/quilt) and it's still humming along. I bought a little featherweight that I piece with but just could not do what I do without the Janome. I am a customer for life. And....I'm really not on the "upgrade to a bigger better machine" roller coaster. It does everything I've ever asked of it.

I love all my Pfaff's, I have 4, 7570's. was my dream machine, so had to have back up's just in case, so far good on all. Also have a Pfaff 2056, and a coverlock serger, My sister talked me out of my 1229. which I had for years with NO problems, gave my hobbymatic,??? to one of my 4_H students, learned on a Pfaff in the mid 1950's and have been a Pfaffie ever sense.

My machine is almost 13 yrs old Janome 6500 and I have no desire to up grade. It does everything I want it to do and then some. I also do use antique straight stitch machines and am very happy with those.
