I have EQ6 and still have the same problem. There a so many block patterns I haven't even scratched the surface. Some times I'm lucky and I find one right away. Before EQ6 I used grid paper and colored pencils to draw my patterns. It worked for me. Gave me an idea of how it would look.

When I first started quilting I bought magazines that had some easy patterns that I could do as a beginner...
This brought on success and confidence and helped my learning curve.
At first I tried to "match" the fabrics used but then tried my hand at putting in my own values, tones of fabrics...some was met with success, others...well, we won't talk about those.
Hope this helps.

There's tons of free quilt sites out there. I have so many saved and bookmarked that if I lived to be 300 years old and sewed and quilted all that time, I still wouldn't get them all done.LOL Just google free quilt patterns if you want more.
