I use Bubble jet set to treat my fabric first. Or you can use ready to print fabric Joann's has it. A bottle of Bubble Jet set will last a long time.

after printing you need to set them aside for 24+ hours to 'cure' then heat set...i sometimes cure/heat set a number of times for a week before even testing to see if the colors will run...make sure sizing has been removed from the fabric before printing on it (wash and dry it before using...no fabric softener)or use PDF's (prepared for dying fabric)the bubble jet works good. there is also retayne. pre-washing, curing and heat setting is manditory! then when ready to test run cold water through and see what happens

Bubble Jet, heat set, and the special fabric sheets.

For the best results, either use pretreated fabric sheets or pretreat with Bubble Jet before printing.
Follow the fabric sheet directions, but I still would use Retayne as the final step no matter what fabric I started out with :D:D:D |
Electric Quilt has a printable fabric that is the nicest I have used for printing photos. It is called EQ Printables and comes in several different thread counts. It's a little pricey, but worth the extra cents to me.

I use the EQ printables .. they are so easy to use

I am planning to do a special civil war quilt in the future. I have a nice pic of Lincoln and I will take it to one of those t-shirt places and have them print it for me. This way it will never wash out. I am waiting for an estimate now.

I bought pre treated fabric at my local fabric store and it worked great.

I had the same problem so now after printing I go over everything with gel pens. This is just for labels so it's all letters. If you're doing pictures I think you have to use bubble jet or the fabric made for that.
