For those of you who insert a pieced strip in the backing fabric for your quilt.....how do you make sure that strip is/stays straight while sandwiching and pinning or basting the layers together.

I am sure there are more accurate ways, but I put pins in the strip so I can feel where they are when I am sandwiching my quilt together.

I just did my first pieced back and sent it to the long armer. She centered it for me.

I sure was hoping for more ideas on how this is accomplished.

I masking tape the backing to the floor or table, when I lay my batting over top, I smoothe the seems with my hand and press the batting to it.
