Pimores for quilti g
Where is the best place to buy Pinmores by that I mean the cheapest.
I have a friend flying to America in two weeks time, I thought if I could buy some via the internet, have them posted to where she is staying and she will bring them back to NZ for me Thank you for your help |
You would have to add in shipping costs for each option, but these are the best prices I found on a Google search:

I agree with prism, or just get earplugs and use them on your pins.

Thank you for your help, I have sent the Pinmore people a email but it doesn't look like the do overseas transactions.
I have read all about Elmers washable school glue which we don't get here, would another brand of washable glue be Okay? |
I would do an experiment with a small test sandwich to try a different brand of washable glue. Sandwich it with the glue, quilt it, then bind it or zigzag the edges. When you're done launder it to see if the glue is removed. The Elmer's is a white school glue. Maybe you can find something comparable, or one of our members from Australia or NZ can suggest a substitute that's available there. Another option would be to have your friend pick up a small bottle of Elmer's Washable School Glue for you to try. It's very inexpensive. I've also tried pinmoor substitutes, but the real ones do work very well.

Any brand of a glue that washes out will work the same as Elmers....check in the school supplies.

I should think you could find an Elmer's substitute in New Zealand. It would be the type of glue used in lower elementary school grades as it washes easily out of little hands, clothing, hair, etc. A teacher of young children would probably know exactly what glue meets these criteria! It's typically very inexpensive too, in part because all it consists of is a very thick starch.
This may be a source for you in NZ: http://www.warehousestationery.co.nz...421019@WSL-B2C |

Wasn't there some sort of children's toy that had cheap foam pellets? A Nerf gun, maybe? Seems to me I read somewhere that this was an inexpensive alternative to the Pinmoors. If you can't order them on the internet, maybe your friend could simply find them at a Joann's store nearby. |
If you have the equivalent of a £1 store, you can buy foam curlers for you hair. They are 1/2 in in diameter 10-12 inches long. They look like long skinny sausages, you can cut them into 1/2 pieces and use them. Before I recently converted to temporary spray adhesive (505 spray) I preferred to use the avery tacking gun rather than pins. Just another alternative for you

I am amazed you comment on not doing overseas. I purchased my pinmores from USA sent to UK. Try amazon they will send to most of world. If you do buy just check there overseas shipping cost with some there is a sting in the tail. Good luck.

Like DOTTYMO, I have a lot of notions shipped from the US. Nancy's Notions have them and will ship internationally as will Sew It All (100 pack). I'm sure there are others too.

Here's a couple of alternatives
