Pineapple block: Creative grids vs AccuQuilt
 

A pineapple block quilt is on my bucket list. Someone gave me the creative grids pineapple ruler, with which I made one test block. There is a lot of trimming involved and I have a painful shoulder. The studio die is half off right now and there would be no trimming to do. Am I being silly to even consider the die which is pricey even with half off. Thanks for your feedback.

I have used both, and I like the Die! If a tool makes your life easier, can eliminate pain, and help with a better finished product then IMHO it’s well worth the investment, even more so if it’s on sale.

If you have the Studio cutter then buying the die wouldn't be silly, it's why you have the machine to use dies.

There is also a die for the GO. I would use the die system for cutting all the pieces in this block.

I so agree with tallchick!!!!!! Eliminate the pain. That's why I upgraded to the Go. Big a couple of years ago as I struggled turning the handle on the regular one.

After my other post I looked At Accuquilt site it's selling for $79 and change.........At Amazon it's $81.99.

Where did you see it for 1/2 of the above mentioned price? If you can get one for $40, I would indeed buy it.

The Accucut studio dies are usually 50% off many times a year. The Accuquilt Go dies are seldom on sale for half off.

I paper pieced a pineapple quilt. Great accuracy, but you do have to remove all that paper backing.

If you use Stable Stuff for paper you don't have to remove it. I use it for all my paper piecing. It goes in the printer just like paper. I buy it by the 8 1/2 x 11 package.

get the die! Their dies are so great for those blocks that are more complex due to small or bias cut pieces. I did 2 quilts last month using my LeMoyne Star die--can tell you now that there is no way I'd do it any other way.
